I reported fraudulent charges and they questioned me if I was the one at fault and or a criminal.
I asked them why would I buy 5 items in Bangladesh on the same day for totally obscure amounts and another one on another day
I was left on hold for over an hour and a half and the customer service rep kept on reading from her script and repeating the same thing over and over each time she came back on the line saying it would be 10-20 minutes at most
What I gather from the script is that I have to prove my innocence and then they will review the charges and if they deemed as fraudulent I would possibly see the money returned to me within the next 60 days or so
It would also take a few business days to receive a replacement card and I said the last time they said that I waited over two weeks and then they said it must be missing in the mail so they canceled that card and will send a new card
I was unable to use a debt card and access my own money for almost a month
I had to inconvenience friends to send them an interac and then take out the cash and give me the cash. This was the solution Tangerine offered.
No help at all. The girl was also a bit errogant in saying that she stayed on line with me until a security person was available and that that was not something that she had to do and said that she could have simply put me into the wait que and wait. As a person owning my own business I would have fired that person fir that type of comment to a client.
So every time I have to buy groceries
Get gas go out for dinner I would have to have someone get cash fir me.
They again said that they where sorry but there is nothing that they can do.
This is the least helpful financial institution I have ever dealt with.
Extremely dissatisfied
I have been a customer for over 15 years also when it was ING. I just recently paid off my credit line due to a divorce. a month later I received a statement with interest due when it was supposed to be finalized through the lawyer. I too was on hold 48 minutes only to be told that I need to pay additional interest of $.01. I was upset over the principle of this as my screen showed nothing owing. I told him to take the damn penny, close the account and I would be removing my $10,000 in savings out of there and closing my savings account. FUNNY HOW A BANK CAN AFFORD TO LOOSE $10,000. OVER A PENNY. Tomorrow will be my last day with Tangerine.

They have few people to answer phones and no callback option. Do not use them if you ever need to talk to someone.
I received a form reply which is indicative of their lack of customer respect.
For an automated bank they need to get much better. I put a certified cheque in the new Scotia bank machine which now scans it. Why is there still a 5 day hold when you know it's certified? On top of that it never said there was a hold on the money in the account so my wife transferred it to savings. So what did they do? Shut down my entire account on me....real nice thanks.
Wife and I spent half day on phone to get my account going again but still the 5 day hold on the cheque.
Don't Bank with Tangerine I been with them for over 20 years and all of a sudden I get a letter from them saying that there shutting down my account with out explaining why. I went though the complaints process and got no ware with it.
I have been waiting for a new mortgage for more than 2 months. Unacceptable.
I couldn't be happier so far! Nothing but good things to say about Tangerine Bank. Everything works flawlessly. Even the only complaint I ever had which was that maybe their online interface could have been a bit faster has been more than resolved since.
The site's attractive, clear and simple and, so far, has any option I would need readily available with no fee banking/chequing and everything else upfront and straightforward.... and their banks card/debit card/Visa card makes life much simpler.
This is how a trusted Canadian bank should be (hint hint dinosaurs.) Thanks Tangerine!

Supposedly a Bank that lets you do everything online, not so. Trying to use the phone to contact them, it's almost impossible, they put you on hold forever, even if you finally manage to get someone on the line, they still put you on hold, and after all that, they even cut you out before you had a chance to do what you could not do online.
Patetic.
I started with ING.
No problems.
Since Scotia took over, the wait getting service on the telephone is unbearable.
The one STAR is too many.
I called at 7.30am waited about 30 minutes.
I was working with agent and she asked for information.
I gave it and then line went dead and message said I had to call again.
To wait another 30 minutes?
Their stupid excuse. Due to covent 19 wait times are longer than usual, continue to hold.
Didn't the top brass think about increasing number of agents.
Maybe the bottom line is more important than than service.
How can suposidly smart people manage to screw up a company.
All they had todo was increase the number of agents.
The bottom line is all their interestd in.
Penny wise and pound foolish.
Word of mouth will be your worst enemy.
Like many others, my card keeps getting randomly locked, and I have to spend hours on hold to resolve it. I have had the card 3 days, and it's been locked twice.
Next time I actually manage to get through I'm cancelling it. These guys are completely useless.
multiple times my card just simply did not work! Recently ( last four days ) I have not been able to access online banking the message just says sorry for the inconvenience. its always at least a 45 min wate on the phone. they are free banking but I will never trust these people with my money ever again and hope you dont either
Opened an account today. Couple of hours later, and throughout the night, tried to log in the account and all I saw was a notice that it was impossible to log in because they were undergoing maintenance. Sorry, but for the past 20 years I banked with TD and it never happened. I decided to close the account next day. Terrible experience first day. I will not be tempted anymore by no fee account. You get what you pay for. You don't pay anything, you don't get anything.
